A
bit of Dorset
may take your fancy, but using the roads north of Lyme Regis you could well believe
you were in Wales!
From Lymington ride across the forest to Ringwood via Burley.
Take
the A31 west until Winterborne Zelston, just by the World's End pub.
Turn
south on the B3075 to Sandford on a roller coaster of a route. Join the A351 to
Wareham and the A352 to Watercombe.
Turn left at the roundabout for Weymouth
on the A353. Use the A354 to the seafront, and at the clock tower turn right.
Now take the B3157 and duck and dive your way to West Bay for a break.
Ride
up to Bridport and join the A35 and A3052 to Lyme Regis and see the interesting
"Cob" harbour.
Find the B3165 northwards to Uplyme, turn right and
left over the A35, stay on the B3165 (Crewkerne) until Birdmoor Gate, turn right
for Broadwindsor on the B3164, then onto Beaminster on the B3163. Continue until
the A356, turn right then left to Evershot.
Turn south onto the A37 (fuel
on your left) then, after 3 miles, turn left for Cerne Abbas. Head north on the
A352 and check out the giant for size! Continue north until a right turn heads
east on the A3030.
After six miles turn right onto the A357 to Blandford Forum.
A
choice of routes home:
1)
A354 for around seven miles east, turn right for Horton and the inn at the B3078
crossroads, onto Three Legged Cross and see the bikes at the Woodbridge Ind. Estate
on your right, or visit Moors Valley Park on your left. Continue until you reach
the A31, head east and turn off for Burley and home
2)
At Blandford Forum find the B3082, passing Badbury rings, and onto Ferndown roundabout,
then the B3073 to Christchurch and the A337 to Lymington.
3) At Blandford Forum
head east on the B354 for about 10 miles, and at the roundabout turn right onto
the B3081 through Verwood, left onto the A31, and at Picket Post turn off for
Burley and home.
