Easter Sunday - 24th April 2011
Mainland run through the New Forest and Dorset. 12 bikes caught the 9.15am Yarmouth Ferry for this 140 mile round trip. It was a cold start on the boat but gradually warmed up as the morning progressed. The sun was out for most of the day, and for anyone who has not used the 'Ornamental Drive' in the Forest before the beauty is breathtaking especially at this time of the year. We progressed on to our coffee stop at the Wilton Centre, which, for the first time ever was closed so we pressed on eventually finding a Pub for lunch where we were able to sit outside to eat as the sun was so warm. After lunch we continued through some very unspoilt areas of Dorset towards Fordingbridge and the 'Sandy Balls Holiday Centre' where we stopped for drinks. We retraced our route including the 'Ornamental Drive' which, like so many roads, looks so different when travelling in the opposite direction arrive back at Lymington for the 5.15pm Ferry. All in all, a very pleasant way to spend a few hours with a great bunch of friends. Thanks to Tail End Charlie Michel and Jan.
